Welcome to my email newsletter
Thanks for visiting my page. I know there are lots of blogs, FB posts, etc vying for your attention. And another one is just...another one. Hopefully, though, you'll find this one worth your while.
It’s Sunday morning. November 1, 2020. I’m drinking my tea, Lyon’s, eating an apple, a Gala, and some cheese, a sharp cheddar from the supermarket. Out of my window, I see power lines, two huge oak trees, their leaves changing colors from the deep greens of summer to the oranges and reds and purples of autumn, the sun trying to cut through clouds. It’s cold, but I have the window open just a bit so I can hear the birds singing their Sunday morning Hallelujahs.
This is All Saint’s Day, as good a day as any, I guess, to begin this new endeavor. The website I have, now that the cheap first year is over, is going to be expensive to keep, it’s a pain in the neck to use (so I rarely use it) and so, I’m getting rid of it. The FB page for my writing, again, I don’t really use it, instead posting my occasional publications on my regular FB and Twitter accounts and forgetting to update the writer page. FB frequently reminds me of how few readers the writer page gets and how, if I pay extra, I can get more attention, more clicks, more likes, blah, blah, blah. This is how it is now, everything vying for our attention so that, I think, we end up not really paying attention to anything at all. That cannot be good for us, as human beings. We are not made to go go, constantly, on all six cylinders. We are not made to go on any cylinders, but instead on our own two feet, which can take us a few miles an hour.
Thanks for visiting and I hope you have a lovely All Saint’s Day. And, I hope, you can find the time (make the time!) to pay attention to something beautiful today, something that is worth your time, something that rewards your attention.
