Happy Thanksgiving

thank you, my dear readers...

I love Thanksgiving. It’s my favorite holiday. Don’t get me wrong, I love Christmas, but Christmas is a season. As far as one-day-only holidays, Thanksgiving wins hands down. I think part of it is the straightforwardness of it - get together, eat, say “thank you.”

One of my favorite Thanksgiving traditions growing up was when we’d put Nat King Cole’s The Christmas Song album on the turntable after dinner. That smooth, deep voice, the anticipation of Christmas and all its joys, everyone full and happy and listening….such a simple thing and yet so fine and wonderful that I remember it with joy all these years later. May this Thanksgiving be filled with simple, fine things and may our hearts be grateful.
